When couples book me, they usually have a few photos they’re excited about.
The first look.
The first kiss.
The sunset photos.
Maybe a photo with grandma.
Maybe a photo on the dance floor.
And those photos absolutely matter.
But one of my favorite things about delivering a wedding gallery is seeing what couples end up loving that they never expected.
Because it’s almost never the photo they had saved on Pinterest.
It’s Usually Something Small

A hand squeeze.
A look across the room.
The way your partner smiled when they thought nobody was watching.
Your flower girl falling asleep on a chair halfway through the reception.
Your dad trying not to cry and completely failing.
The things that feel ordinary in the moment somehow become extraordinary later.
Nobody Plans For The Last Photo Together
This one gets me every time.
Sometimes there are people at your wedding who won’t be at the next big family gathering.
Sometimes there are hugs that become more meaningful with time.
Sometimes a photograph becomes important for reasons nobody could have predicted on the wedding day.
And that’s why I pay attention to more than just the timeline.
Because weddings aren’t really about details.
They’re about people.
Your Future Self Will Notice Different Things

When you’re planning a wedding, you’re focused on making sure everything goes right.
The flowers arrive.
The DJ shows up.
The timeline stays on track.
Normal wedding stuff.
But five years from now?
You probably won’t be looking at your wedding gallery thinking about centerpieces.
You’ll be looking at faces.
The people you love.
The people who showed up.
The people who made you laugh.
The people who cried during the ceremony.
That’s what becomes valuable.
The In-Between Moments Become The Story

One thing I’ve learned after photographing weddings for years is that the story of the day usually happens between the big events.
Walking to the ceremony.
Waiting to enter the reception.
Talking during dinner.
Laughing during sunset photos.
The hug after the first dance.
The quiet moment before the music starts.
Those moments don’t get announced.
Nobody stands up and says:
“Everyone pay attention, something meaningful is happening.”
But they’re often the moments that tell the story best.

The Photos I Hope You Love Most
Of course I want you to love your portraits.
Of course I want you to love your ceremony photos.
But secretly?
I hope your favorite photos are the ones you didn’t even know I was taking.
The moments that feel like memories.
The moments that feel like people.
The moments that bring you right back to exactly how the day felt.
Because beautiful photos are wonderful.
But meaningful photos only become more valuable with time.
