One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer in Eau Claire is playing with different types of light in all of our gorgeous outside parks and locations to create a variety of romantic, natural images. Light can completely transform a photo, and I enjoy using it in ways that bring out the beauty and emotion of each moment without feeling forced or over-the-top.
Golden hour is one of my favorite times to shoot—there’s just something so magical about that soft, warm light just before sunset. It creates this gorgeous, glowing effect that makes everything feel timeless and romantic. It’s the kind of light that brings out those genuine smiles and relaxed moments, making the photos feel natural and timeless.
But I also love using light throughout the wedding day to add variety. Whether we’re capturing the soft morning light, the bright afternoon sun, or the warm glow from candles or twinkle lights later in the evening, different lighting gives your photos layers of warmth and intimacy. I always keep the atmosphere light and fun, so it feels more like you’re just enjoying time together, not posing for the camera.
The key for me is using light to create images that feel authentic, full of life, and true to who you are. It’s all about capturing the connection between you and your partner in a way that feels fresh, joyful, and completely you.
